Long Term Skill Shortage List Work Visa

Overview

This visa provides a route to permanent residency in New Zealand. To be eligible, you must have the relevant work experience, qualifications, and occupational registration for a job listed on the Long Term Skill Shortage List, along with a job offer in that occupation. After working in this role in New Zealand for 2 years, you can apply for permanent residency.

With this visa, you can:

- Progress towards permanent residency in New Zealand by working for up to 30 months in a job where there is a shortage of local workers.

- Apply for permanent residency after 2 years of employment in a role listed on the Long Term Skill Shortage List.

Important Notes

- Eligibility for this visa requires having previously held a Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa. Additionally, you must either be awaiting a decision on your Talent (Accredited Employer) Resident Visa application or have worked in the specified role, been overseas when the border closed on 19 March 2020, and not returned by 31 October 2021.

- This visa will be replaced by the Accredited Employer Work Visa starting 4 July 2022.

While you cannot include a partner or dependent children in your work visa application, they can apply for visas based on their relationship with you.
