Skilled Worker Immigration

Overview

A Skilled Worker visa permits you to enter or remain in the UK for an eligible job with an approved employer.

This visa has replaced the Tier 2 (General) work visa.

Eligibility

Your Job

To be eligible for a Skilled Worker visa, you must:

- Work for a UK employer that has been approved by the Home Office.

- Have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer detailing the role offered in the UK.

- Perform a job listed as an eligible occupation.

- Earn a minimum salary, which varies depending on the type of work.

Comprehensive Support

Duration of Stay

Your visa can be valid for up to 5 years before needing renewal. You must apply to extend or update your visa when it expires or if you change jobs or employers.

Extending Your Stay in the UK

You can apply to extend your visa as many times as necessary, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

After 5 years, you may be eligible to apply for permanent settlement in the UK (known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’). This status allows you to live, work, and study in the UK indefinitely and apply for benefits if eligible.

Processing Time

You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before your start date in the UK, as stated on your certificate of sponsorship.

As part of your application, you will need to verify your identity and submit your documents.

Additional time may be required if you need an appointment to complete this process. You will be informed if an appointment is necessary when you begin your application.
