Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is led by the community, allowing participating areas to attract new immigrants, match them with local job opportunities, foster a welcoming environment, and connect newcomers with established residents and local support services.

 Eligibility Requirements for Candidates

To be considered for the RNIP, candidates must meet the following federal criteria and any additional requirements set by the community they wish to settle in.

The federal criteria are:

- Obtain a recommendation from one of the designated communities

- Have one year of continuous work experience within the past three years (a minimum of 1,560 hours)

  OR

  - Have graduated from a publicly funded post-secondary institution in the recommending community

- Have a genuine job offer to work in one of the designated communities

- Meet the language proficiency requirements for the NOC skill type/level of the offered job

- Have sufficient funds to settle and support themselves and their family in the community

- Intend to live in the community
