Yukon Community Pilot Program

The Yukon Community Pilot program is an immigration initiative launched by Canada's northern territory, the Yukon, and is part of the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The Yukon Community Pilot Program was established to address the economic and labor market needs of the Yukon. Under this program, applicants receive a two-year work permit and can later apply for a Canadian permanent resident visa. Launched by the Government of Yukon in January 2020, the program will run for three years, concluding in June 2023. Applicants can work for two to three employers in participating Yukon communities.

Steps to Apply for the Yukon Community Pilot Program

Step 1: Apply for Job Offers

As the initial step, immigrants need to apply for two or three job offers that match their profile.

Step 2: Apply for the Nomination

Immigrants must apply for the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program to immigrate to Canada. They will receive a nomination letter from the Government of Yukon. For the Yukon work permit, immigrants can apply through either the skilled worker program or the critical impact worker program, depending on their skill level. Additionally, they must obtain a signed letter of support from the Government of Yukon, which includes details about the job location, number of hours, occupation, employer’s name, and confirmation that the employer requires the immigrant to live and work in the community.

Step 3: Apply for the Work Permit

After securing job offers and receiving the necessary letters from the Yukon government, immigrants can apply for the Yukon work permit. This permit allows them to work for any employer within specified locations without needing LMIA approval.
